COMMERCIAL VEHICLES LTD

Trado Van:

The Trado van is a purpose built vehicle from the ground up, not a conversion based on another

Manufacturers model. It is designed from the outset to be the best electric van on the market.

It is offered in two configurations, a six wheel large van and a mid-sized four wheel version.

The Trado Van represents a ground breaking step forward in the design and functionality of electric commercial vehicles. It offers significantly more internal space, allowing for greater flexibility in how cargo is loaded and transported. With a higher load capacity, the van can support a total vehicle weight of up to 7,000 kilograms, making it ideal for various industries that require the transportation of heavy goods. By engineering our bespoke stainless steel chassis and composite body, we have been able to craft a van that not only meets but exceeds the demands of modern transportation. This custom design approach allows us to optimize every aspect of the van, resulting in a vehicle that boasts a longer lifecycle, increased range, and more efficient charging capabilities. Additionally, the Trado Van is designed with the driver in mind, offering a more comfortable and ergonomic work environment that reduces fatigue and enhances productivity during long hours on the road.

Structure

The Trado van is offered in two configurations, a six wheel large van and a mid-sized four wheel version.

Both options feature a separate robust purpose built 4003 stainless steel chassis. This offers a strong corrosion free structure from which to build the vehicle. 4003 stainless steel is manufactured with a small amount of chrome and carbon making it magnetic and guaranteed for 100 years against corrosion. It is formed from a 1.5 mm sheet that is folded into double “C” sections with a height of 295mm, plus an additional vertical section making it  three verticals with eight 90-degree bends per chassis rail giving a world-leading torsional rigidity.

The chassis active has air suspension all round enabling the van to be lowered to the ground for easy loading and unloading, not to mention the limousine like ride quality with the vehicle automatically leaning into corners to maintain a level ride. The vehicle also features anti-dive and anti-squat geometry.

The vehicle bodies are an aerodynamic cab forward design with flush glass. They are made from fibre glass composites with core matting and Rohacell (as used in F1 cars) foam. Ten inner stainless steel reinforcement hoops are bonded to the body internally and welded to the chassis to ensure that the body structure has the rigidity to resists impact damage.  All key structural points such as hinges and mounting points are reinforced with stainless steel componentry.
